Retirement Community in Arizona

These communities abound in Arizona with tremendous variation.

They come in all shapes and sizes: single family residential communities, townhouse or condominium communities, apartment style complexes, manufactured home communities, and RV and manufactured home mixed parks.

The majority of these have security gates; some of these use electronic security mechanisms while others are manned 24 hours a day.

The activities available in these communities are equally as varied, some offer 18-hole golf courses and over 70 crafts and courses plus keep fit programs. Other communities offer fewer services and naturally lower residency prices.

In the two winters my wife and I have spent there, we tried several alternatives. Your challenge is determining what you want in your retirement community in Arizona.

A recent study completed by the University of Arizona said that there's a shift in what retirees desire for a retirement community in Arizona.

Their study indicated that for baby boomers a satisfying retirement community in Arizona could be quite similar to the residential community they currently have been living in.

The boomers were looking for a more mixed age population and less activities and crafts supplied by their landlords and tenant associations. They wanted to seek their own growth and relaxation activities more independently and have less of these needs met the community. The house building industry has taken these needs into account by now building this type of retirement community in Arizona.

The question then is what do you want?

Increased age expectancy, changing values and greater physical health has caused many people to look at retirement differently. It’s a whole new world compared to the one that our parents retired in.

What is your vision of retirement?

Your retirement community in Arizona may look quite different once you decide what best suits your skills and abilities that you may repackage to express differently now.

Retirement will no longer look as living out your twilight years but instead you will be experiencing a new dawning, a new life that is most exciting and adventurous.

You begin to get the feeling like you did when you graduated from high school or college; the feeling that the world is awaiting the expression of yourself and the stage of life has just drawn the curtains waiting for you to perform.
